Attorney Anna L. Burnett began working with Eric Morton as a law clerk in 2012, and continued to do so as an attorney after passing the California Bar Exam in 2013. Anna’s practice focuses on the areas of business and corporate law, intellectual property law, estate planning, and litigation. Anna enjoys assisting startups and medium-sized businesses with their needs, including organization, governance, contract review and/or negotiation, and if necessary, litigation. Anna is also a passionate advocate of branding and has extensive experience with trademark law, including counseling clients in trademark selection, filing applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, successfully responding to Office Action Refusals, and trademark litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
“When presented with a challenge, I don’t shy away from it – I meet it and instead of focusing on the problem, I look for a solution. My mother used to say I was a strong-willed child, but now as an attorney, I use that determination to my advantage to get results.”
Born in Torrance, California, Anna moved around quite a bit, growing up in Kansas, Texas, and Missouri. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision Technology. Following her graduation from Purdue, Anna moved to San Diego to attend law school at California Western School of Law.
She is a proud member of the American Inns of Court, Lopardo Chapter, the San Diego County Bar Association, the International Technology Law Association, and serves on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society. Anna is also involved in the local startup community, and regularly attends hackathons, startup events, and tech conferences in town. For balance, she enjoys yoga, travelling, experimenting in the kitchen, and learning German.
